Important wedding decisions - dont make a mistake

When your financial muscle is a bit strained, there are certain things which you can 

compromise and they go unnoticed but there are some which will turn out into a disaster.

As a wedding photographer, I notice every little detail of a wedding. Trust me when 

I tell you what can and can’t do. Iam privileged to watch your wedding photos first 

before everyone else, even the bride and groom.

Wedding Shoes

For the groom, you can get away with a cheap shoe. A few people rarely look at 

the groom’s shoes. Moreover, if a man’s shoe fits perfectly, there is no problem 

of comfort. Just make sure you are wearing a brand new pair of socks, matching 

socks to be precise. It’s the blending of the socks and suit that can let you down 

not the quality of the shoe but….

For the bride, don’t make that mistake. Ladies wedding shoes can be very 

beautiful and cheap but put the bride in hell on her wedding day. Cheap ladies 

shoes are usually uncomfortable. If you don’t want a limping bride on your 

wedding, don’t compromise on her shoes. Quality and comfort are synonymous 

when it comes to wedding shoes.

At another wedding I photographed, the bride couldn’t bare it anymore and 

she had to pull then off completely till an hour later when a replacement was

 found. At another wedding, the bride’s cheap shoe’s heal broke on the dance

 flow and created a scene. I had a hard time in the studio trying to flawlessly 

edit it out.

Tip, make sure you bring an additional pair of shoes for the evening too.

Cakes

I know your mom baked all your birthday cakes and your Sunday school 

scones but don’t let that fool you. Let her do anything else for your wedding 

preparations but don’t let her make your wedding cake. I know how expensive 

wedding cakes are but don’t compromise on the cake. The price should be 

reasonable – yes – I agree, but not unreasonably cheap. Remember, you only 

wed once (in most cases). At another wedding, I was forced to exclude all 

wedding cake shots because the cake must have been made by the couple’s 

aunt or someone from the family to cut on price. DON’T DO IT.
